As a mother of 2 sons, a wife of an amazing husband, a sister to 5 wonderful adopted brothers and many faithful supportive male friends and associates, I felt that the dog image being placed on a lot of men were unfair, as well as a lot of men in general were being treated unfairly. I saw consistent senseless killing of men while we focused only on race. I paid attention to how undervalued father's day was, as well as how few programs there were for fathers in communities and my heart began to cry out to God for men. Whether young or old, black or white, Men are in need of prayer.
There are many organizations designed to aid in the needs of women but being that men are the head of the home and expected to keep things a float there are not many programs as dedicated to aid in the building and support of males. This was interesting to me.
Though I agree with the fact that the man is the head of a home and must function effectively in that role; I also believe that we the women as the spine of the home body are to do our part as well and hold up the head. Proverbs 14:1 says “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands”. We are to be builders of our homes not destroyers. My hope and prayer is that in the uniting of women in prayer for men we will do just that.
I grew up with a single mother and that was very difficult for both her and us the children. So I know personally what some men do to their families when they turn their backs and walk away. I have seen what womanizers do to a woman and her self-confidence. I have personally tasted the mental and emotional pain and embarrassment of infidelity (definition: unfaithfulness or disloyalty, especially to a life partner), I have also felt the unfairness of molestation by a grown man and I live daily the emotional prison that you internally create and reside in as a result of this act. Yet still I feel that we are to maintain our respect for where God has placed real men and know that not all men are the same.
I have been blessed & felt the love of a man that was colorblind and treated me as his own child. Encouraging me, pushing me forward though I did not look like him. I have been blessed to have had the love of a man for 14 years working alongside him as he supported and invested into my dreams. I have had powerful men adopt me as a younger sister protecting me and encouraging me time after time after time. I have been given the gift of male family members who has embraced me as a kid sister some younger some older (but I am shorter and they are all way taller).
Men in high posts speaking into my life and that of my family dedicated time to teaching and investing into our growth. What touches my heart greatly I have been blessed with two amazing sons that encourage me so much by their existence, the things that they say to me and the way they treat me, I know for sure this must be God. So though there are some bad there are many more good and we must pray for them and push for their protection and advancement.
International Pray for Men Week is only one Week, but my prayer is that it would start a trend for women to uplift the men EVERY DAY!
